The Liberian Registry has urged maritime stakeholders—including shipowners, managers, crewing agencies, and operators—to enhance their seafarer compliance frameworks to meet evolving regulatory requirements. In light of global changes, the Registry’s Seafarer Certification and Documentation Department is implementing advanced compliance measures through cutting-edge digital systems. These initiatives focus on integrating compliance checks throughout the seafarer application and credential issuance process, thereby enhancing oversight and supporting legitimate maritime operations.

By incorporating compliance protocols into application and verification stages, the Registry aims to improve identity verification, traceability, and the integrity of issued documents, all in accordance with international standards. This proactive strategy is designed to bolster responsible vessel operations, protect seafarers, and maintain the Liberian flag’s integrity in a complex global landscape.

The Registry reaffirmed its commitment to quality and compliance within the maritime sector, emphasizing the development of sophisticated compliance systems that begin with initial interactions with seafarers, vessels, and corporate entities. These systems are continuously updated to ensure adherence to international regulations and to mitigate regulatory risks for clients and partners.

Alfonso Castillero, CEO of the Liberian Registry, highlighted the necessity for the industry to adapt to the changing regulatory environment. He noted that the Registry’s significant investments in compliance measures are setting new industry standards and called on all stakeholders to implement stricter compliance processes.
