The ‘Mission 30’ initiative, launched by Hong Kong-based Anglo Eastern shipping, aims to increase the number of management-level merchant navy officers under 30 from 1% to 30% by 2030. This program is anticipated to enhance career prospects for countless young Indians, given India’s status as a key provider of trained personnel for the global maritime sector.
As India approaches becoming the world’s third-largest economy, expected to surpass $10 trillion within a decade, ‘Mission 30’ offers young merchant navy officers valuable opportunities for professional growth. With 65% of India’s population below 35, this initiative supports the country’s potential as a hub for skilled maritime workers in the near future.
Aligned with the Prime Minister’s vision of a ‘Viksit-Bharat’, the program provides personalized career maps for officers, outlining their current roles and potential career paths. Additionally, focused career development programs are designed to facilitate timely promotions for these officers.
Recruitment primarily occurs in South India through Anglo Eastern’s Kochi-based arm, Anglo Eastern Ship Management India. The Anglo Eastern Maritime Academy also ensures job placement for graduates on various types of cargo ships.
