Team PPA at Paradip Port Authority achieved the highest ever monthly cargo throughput of 14.32 MMT in January 2024, surpassing the previous record of 13.5 MMT achieved in March 2023. Chairman PPA, Shri Haranadh, congratulated the team and expressed gratitude to Union Minister Shri Sarbananda Sonowal for his leadership and guidance. Paradip Port is expected to set a record throughput of over 145 million tons of cargo in the current financial year, making it the number one port in the country in terms of cargo volume.
The cargo volume handled by PPA in the current financial year ending January 2024 stands at 119.85 MMT, recording an excellent growth of 9.67%. The port also recorded a significant increase in ship movements, with 738 movements in January 2024. Additionally, key performance parameters such as berth productivity and detention time before docking have shown notable improvements, positioning Paradip Port as a coastal shipping hub and expanding coastal transportation of thermal coal to the west coast.
The port’s achievement in January 2024 is a significant milestone, with plans to further expand coastal transportation of thermal coal to other regions on the West Coast. This success reflects the commitment and persistence of Team PPA and marks a historic moment for Paradip Port as it emerges as the leading port in the country for cargo volume.
