Paradip Port Authority (PPA) has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing the previous records of Deendayal Port for the first time in its 56-year operational history. The port recorded a year-on-year traffic growth of 10.02 million tonnes, marking a 7.4 percent increase, and achieved its highest ever coastal shipping traffic at 59.19 million tonnes during the financial year.
Thermal coal coastal shipping at Paradip Port reached 43.97 million tons, a 4.02 percent increase compared to the previous year, solidifying its position as a hub for coastal shipping in the country. The port also increased its berth productivity to 33,014 tonnes, the highest among all ports in the country, and handled 21,665 rakes, representing a 7.65 percent growth compared to the previous financial year.
Through system improvement measures and operational enhancements, Paradip Port was able to handle 2,710 ships during the financial year, showcasing a 13.82 percent increase from the previous year. The port has frozen its cargo handling tariffs at 2022 levels for the next three years as part of its business development initiatives, maintaining its status as the cheapest port in terms of tariffs among all ports in the country. In terms of financial performance, the port saw operating income, operating surplus, and net surplus before tax grow by 14.30 percent, 16.44 percent, and 21.26 percent, respectively, compared to the previous financial year.
