Sonowal inaugurates MSW and MMD at SagarSetu

The launch of two digital modules within the SagarSetu (NLP-Marine) platform was announced by Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Minister for the Ports, Shipping & Waterways and AYUSH. The Maritime Single Window (MSW) and the Mercantile Maritime Department (MMD) were inaugurated during the event, which was attended by Shripad Y Naik, Minister of State for the Ports, Shipping & Waterways, and senior officials from the Ministry. Sonowal highlighted the Ministry’s commitment to transforming and modernizing ports in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, emphasizing the alignment of the MSW module with global standards established by the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

The implementation of the MSW system through SagarSetu (NLP-M) adheres to the processes mandated by the FAL Convention of the IMO, promoting harmonization and standardization of processes set by the IMO. Sonowal emphasized that this initiative demonstrates a commitment to international compliance and efficiency. He also noted that the launch of the MMD and MSW modules signifies a commitment to shaping the future of India’s Maritime Sector through the digitization of processes, reflecting more than just technological advancement.
