OTESAT_MARITEL and Bureau Veritas (BV) have collaborated to certify two cybersecurity solutions, IRIS and s@tGate, in accordance with IACS UR E27 Rev.1 requirements for the cyber resilience of on-board systems and equipment. IRIS is a renowned cybersecurity solution offering comprehensive ashore and onboard protection, along with an e-learning module for security awareness and Managed Security Services from a leading Security Operation Center in Southeast Europe, operating 24/7. It seamlessly integrates with OTESAT_MARITEL’s s@tGate platform to cater to the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) needs of shipping companies amid the industry’s digital transformation.
While IACS UR E27 Rev.1 will be mandatory for vessels contracted after July 1st, 2024, it currently serves as the cybersecurity standard for the maritime sector. Bureau Veritas has been assisting major equipment manufacturers in meeting this standard, which is primarily derived from IEC 62443-3-3. By collaborating with stakeholders and anticipating shipowners’ requirements, Bureau Veritas aims to enhance cyber resilience in the maritime industry. OTESAT_MARITEL, with its global expertise in serving shipping companies, focuses on exceeding industry demands and ensuring customer satisfaction, from satellite communication systems to fully digitalized vessel environments.
Nikolaos Papaspanos, Product Manager at OTESAT_MARITEL, emphasized the importance of choosing digitalization tools specifically designed for maritime applications in the increasingly IT-dependent maritime sector. Their solutions are tailored to enhance security standards, improve efficiency, and boost productivity on vessels, aligning with the industry’s evolving needs.
