The port experienced a significant increase in bulk cargo handling, with a total of 2,235,891 tonnes of coal and coke handled from 48 vessels, surpassing the previous record set in July 2022. In the liquid cargo category, the port handled 1,427,223 tonnes of crude oil from 13 tankers, also surpassing a previous record set in March 2024.
Container trade at the port also saw positive growth, with a throughput of 70,539 TEU from 53 vessels, surpassing the previous record set in August 2023. Additionally, bulk bauxite, manganese ore, and limestone handling records were broken, showcasing the port’s efficiency and commitment to excellence in various cargo categories.
The Chairman of the VPA highlighted the port’s achievements in rail freight transport, with an increase in the number of wagons handled compared to previous months. He emphasized the port’s dedication to setting new standards in the shipping industry through operational efficiency and excellence, reflecting a commitment to continued growth and success.
