The St Vincent and the Grenadines Sailing Association, in collaboration with the French Embassy and Blue Life Yacht Charters, has launched an initiative to provide local youth with training and work experience in the yacht charter industry. This program aims to equip young individuals with the skills and knowledge needed to pursue careers in this growing sector. The training will take place in Bequia over 8 weekends between October 2024 and May 2025, with all costs covered for selected participants.
Sailing holds a significant place in the heritage of St Vincent and the Grenadines, and this program seeks to build on that legacy by offering career pathways within the marine industry. Participants will receive hands-on training for various roles in the yacht charter sector, enabling them to gain valuable experience and skills to succeed in this dynamic field. President of the SVG Sailing Association, Jenny Trumble, emphasized the importance of creating a new generation of professionals ready to contribute to the country’s thriving marine sector.
This initiative not only aims to provide practical training and experience but also to empower young men and women to pursue rewarding careers in the yacht charter industry. Through this program, the St Vincent and the Grenadines Sailing Association hopes to support the growth and sustainability of the Blue Economy in the region.
