The port of Mormugao has generated Rs. 4.82 crore from cruise tourism under the Cruise Bharat Mission. From October 2024 to June 2025, it welcomed 38 cruise ships and nearly 68,000 passengers. This initiative aims to create 400,000 jobs by 2029, emphasizing India’s potential in the global cruise tourism market.
Goa’s tourism sector is poised for growth with the Chapora and Sal rivers selected for the Cruise Bharat Mission, enhancing cruise tourism in India. Minister Sarbananda Sonawal announced new circuits, including routes from Chapora to Alorna Fort and Cavelossim to Betul Fort, showcasing Goa’s rich cultural and maritime heritage.
Under the Cruise Bharat Mission, Gujarat plans three cruise circuits along its coast, featuring destinations like Diu, Jamnagar, and Dwarka. Clusters include Padala Island and routes connecting historical and cultural sites within 100 km. The Gujarat Maritime Board is enhancing infrastructure and promoting sustainable cruise tourism growth.
