Oman has successfully evacuated injured crew members from the MT On Peace, a Panama-flagged vessel hit by a projectile in the Strait of Hormuz. Of the 19 crew members, 12 were injured, including 11 Indians. Indian officials thanked Oman for its assistance as concerns over maritime security in the region escalate.
Oman has mandated that all foreign ships operating in its territorial waters keep their Automatic Identification Systems (AIS) activated at all times. This regulation, part of a broader framework, aims to enhance maritime security amid recent AIS anomalies and GNSS interference in the Strait of Hormuz, ensuring compliance with Omani laws.
A significant incident involving the Greek-managed dry bulk carrier ‘Minoan Pioneer’ occurred near Oman in the Strait of Hormuz. The vessel was struck by an unidentified projectile, possibly a drone, igniting a fire that forced the crew to evacuate. One crew member is missing, and investigations are ongoing.
