The Indian government plans to sell a 4.83% stake in Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders, aiming to divest its ownership in state-owned companies. The sale of 11.4 million shares at a floor price of 2,525 rupees per share is expected to attract investor interest and increase liquidity. This move reflects the government’s strategy to unlock value.
Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd is constructing India’s largest floating dry dock at Nhava Island near Mumbai as part of a Rs 5,000 crore expansion plan. The 180-meter long dock, capable of accommodating vessels up to 12,800 tons, will enhance shipbuilding capacity, supporting large orders and simultaneous docking of eight ships.
BEML Ltd., a government-owned company, has partnered with Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders to develop innovative technologies for the marine industry. The collaboration aims to enhance India’s maritime capabilities and drive innovation in strategic equipment manufacturing. BEML will provide technical support, while Mazagon Docks offer research facilities for testing and validation.
