Brabo, a provider of pilot and port services in Antwerp, Belgium, has partnered with Artemis Technologies to incorporate an Artemis EF-12 Pilot boat into its fleet. The cutting-edge, fully electric foiling vessel is scheduled for delivery in late summer 2025. Engineered with input from pilotage professionals worldwide, the Artemis EF-12 meets ES-TRIN standards for inland navigation vessels. This electric vessel eliminates operational emissions and reduces costs by up to 80%, with an advanced active flight control system ensuring precise handling, stability, and safety during pilot transfers in challenging conditions.
Artemis Technologies’ eFoiler electric propulsion system reduces wake, enabling faster transit speeds in previously restricted areas. This enhancement boosts pilot hour efficiency and minimizes environmental impact. Brabo CEO Herman Van Driessche expressed excitement about adding this vessel to the fleet, emphasizing the technology’s potential to enhance sustainable, safe, and comfortable waterborne transport. Dr. Iain Percy, CEO of Artemis Technologies, highlighted the partnership’s focus on safety, reliability, and cost reduction, emphasizing the vessel’s performance and their joint commitment to future-proofing maritime operations.
Artemis recently conducted testing and validation of the Artemis EF-12 Pilot in the Port of Cork, Ireland, showcasing the e-foiling technology’s capabilities. The vessel successfully completed multiple pilot transfer maneuvers alongside various vessel types during the demonstration. This collaboration between Brabo and Artemis signifies a shared dedication to advancing sustainable maritime solutions and optimizing operational efficiency in port services.
