Cobham Satcom has introduced a new antenna designed for the maritime industry, specifically targeting cruise ships and mega yachts. The Sea Tel 370s TV antenna is the company’s second TVRO launch in recent months, aiming to enhance onboard access to high-quality programming worldwide while reducing technical costs over time. The announcement of the antenna launch was made on July 17.
Utilizing the latest Sea Tel Integrated Marine Electronics (IMA) platform, the Sea Tel 370s TV offers a flexible and powerful marine VSAT antenna system. This new technology automates manual processes, making popular television channels available globally at sea for cruise and yacht charter companies. The antenna features automatic C-band switching between circular and linear polarization for uninterrupted viewing of live television, including popular channels like ESPN.
In addition to the Sea Tel 370s TV antenna, Cobham Satcom also unveiled the SAILOR XTR TVRO antennas earlier this year. These antenna systems, available in 1 meter and 1.2 meter sizes, offer global programming and interference-free reception with a focus on minimizing onboard footprint. Henrik Fyhn, VP & Product Line Director, Maritime at Cobham Satcom, highlighted the importance of delivering high-quality television onboard for guest satisfaction in the cruise sector, emphasizing the cost-saving benefits of eliminating manual antenna modifications for vessels navigating between incompatible satellite regions.
