Cochin Shipyard offers a one-year training course in marine engineering.

Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) is offering a 12-month graduate marine engineering course that provides opportunities for lucrative job positions for marine engineers in the commercial shipping industry in India and abroad. Interested candidates can apply online at https://www.cslmeti.in. Upon completion of the course, along with six months of onboard training and passing the Class IV exam conducted by the Director General of Shipping, individuals can begin their career as junior marine engineer officers on merchant ships.

As one gains work experience, undergoes various short-term training programs, and obtains higher competency certificates, they can progress to the position of chief engineer. CSL METI has a total of 140 seats available in two batches every year (January and September). The preferred age and marks for sponsorship are a maximum of 24 years and 60% marks in BTech. The institute has collaborations with various shipping companies for onboard ship training and placement opportunities.

CSL METI has partnered with IDBI Bank to provide collateral-free educational loans up to four lakhs. The current running batch boasts a 100% placement rate, and in the upcoming September batch, all seats will be sponsored by shipping companies based on test and interview performance. Early applicants have a higher chance of securing sponsorship and placement, as there are limited seats available.
