Disney Treasure Completes Conveyance to Netherlands Ahead of December Launch

Disney Cruise Line’s latest ship, the Disney Treasure, recently completed its conveyance from a shipyard in Germany to its ocean berth in the Netherlands, marking a significant milestone in the two-year construction project. The conveyance involved a challenging 16-hour journey along the Ems River, guided by tugs, due to the ship’s massive size of 1,119 feet in length and 128 feet in beam. The ship, with a draft of 27.2 feet and an air draft of 221 feet when fully loaded, arrived in Eemshaven, Netherlands, for final touches before being handed over to Disney Cruise Line.

Following its arrival in the Netherlands, the Disney Treasure is set to undergo several days of sea trials to test its speed, maneuverability, and systems before delivery. This ship is the second dual-fuel LNG cruise ship in Disney’s fleet and is part of a series of three ships ordered from Meyer Werft. The ship’s design draws inspiration from Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, and Marvel, offering unique accommodations such as the Tomorrow Tower Suite in the forward funnel and ocean-view staterooms with verandahs.

Once the sea trials are completed and the ship is handed over, the Disney Treasure will embark on an Atlantic crossing to Port Canaveral, Florida, where it will be based. Scheduled to enter service in December, the ship will sail to the Eastern and Western Caribbean, accommodating approximately 4,000 passengers and 1,555 crew members. With family-oriented spaces, children’s activities, adults-only areas, and innovative attractions like the AquaMouse ride, the Disney Treasure promises a magical and unforgettable cruise experience for guests.
