The Clean Hydrogen Partnership, a collaboration supporting research and innovation in hydrogen technologies in Europe, has signed a cooperation agreement with Japan’s New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO). The agreement, signed on June 23 during the Japan-EU Hydrogen High-Level Business Forum, aims to accelerate the deployment of hydrogen technologies worldwide and contribute to achieving carbon neutrality. Under this agreement, the two organizations will explore collaboration opportunities, including joint research and demonstration projects and the exchange of knowledge and data in areas such as electrolysis and hydrogen carriers.
The partnership between Clean Hydrogen Partnership and NEDO marks a significant milestone as the first international cooperation agreement for the partnership. It aligns with the memorandum of cooperation between Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the European Commission to accelerate collaboration in renewable hydrogen. The agreement formalizes 15 years of bilateral cooperation between the two organizations and underscores the importance of working together to address energy transition and climate change challenges.
In addition to the agreement between Clean Hydrogen Partnership and NEDO, several other collaboration documents were signed to promote cooperation in the hydrogen field. This includes agreements between the Japan Hydrogen Association and Hydrogen Europe, as well as a memorandum of understanding between H2Global and the Japan Organization for Metals and Energy Security (JOGMEC) to cooperate in clean hydrogen technologies. These partnerships highlight the growing international efforts to advance clean hydrogen technologies and address environmental sustainability goals.
