Revolutionary Swappable Marine Battery System Debuts at SMM Hamburg

AYK Energy To Launch Swoppable Containerized Battery At

AYK Energy will introduce the world’s first swappable containerized marine battery system at SMM in Hamburg next month (Hall B6 stand 342). Founder Chris Kruger highlighted that this innovative technology revolutionizes the installation, deployment, and operation of marine batteries.

The system’s flexibility allows for both swappable and permanent installations, significantly reducing the design complexities typically associated with battery setups. Kruger emphasized the ease of use, noting that these containerized batteries can be stacked and charged off-site, ready for quick transport to ports. This enables vessels to load multiple batteries efficiently, catering to short sea electric requirements in the EU and meeting emissions standards.

Additionally, the system can provide temporary power while vessels are docked, further minimizing emissions. It is suitable for various applications, including ferries, RoPax, passenger vessels, tugboats, and hybrid commercial craft. AYK Energy has already begun receiving orders for its ‘Cosmos’ battery, having successfully completed the New Technology Qualification (TQ) stage, which confirms the innovation’s readiness for class approval.
