GTT has received an order from Hyundai Heavy Industries for the tank design of three new Very Large Ethane Carriers (VLECs) on behalf of an Asian ship-owner. Each vessel will have a total capacity of 98,000m3 and will be fitted with GTT’s Mark III membrane containment system. This order brings the total number of VLECs adopting GTT’s Mark III technology to 25, including those ordered, under construction, or in operation.
The delivery of these VLECs is scheduled between the fourth quarter of 2026 and the second quarter of 2027. GTT’s design of the tanks for these vessels highlights the company’s ongoing partnership with Hyundai Heavy Industries and its continued leadership in providing advanced containment systems for the transportation of ethane.
This announcement demonstrates GTT’s commitment to providing innovative and reliable solutions for the shipping industry, as well as its strong collaboration with shipyards and ship-owners to meet the growing demand for efficient and sustainable transportation of ethane.
