Applications are now open for the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Photography Competition 2024, with a deadline of September 5, 2024. This year’s competition, in honor of Black History Month, focuses on the theme ‘Diversity at Sea’, celebrating the multiculturalism within the maritime sector. The IMO invites submissions from all skill levels that showcase unique perspectives on maritime life, whether capturing diverse crews, the cultural mosaic of port cities, or the daily experiences of maritime professionals worldwide.
Participants have the chance to celebrate and showcase the resilience, expertise, and cultural heritage that shape the oceans and the people who navigate them. Winning entries will be showcased online and in-person at the IMO Headquarters, with prizes including a GoPro Hero 12 Creator Edition for the first place winner, a GoPro 12 Hero Black for second place, and a GoPro 11 Black Mini for third place. The winners will be announced during IMO’s Black History Month panel event on October 11, 2024.
The competition is open to photographers of all skill levels worldwide, with entries expected to reflect unique perspectives on maritime life. Interested participants are requested to take a photo representing the theme ‘Diversity at Sea’ and can submit up to three high-quality photos via email to the racial equity and equality group. Entrants must include their name, occupation, location of the photo, caption, and attach the photo. For more information and to submit entries, visit the IMO Photography Competition website here.
