The Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) commemorated its Golden Jubilee on the eve of India’s Independence Day, celebrating 50 years of exceptional service to the maritime industry. The event, held in New Delhi on August 14, 2024, was attended by Chief of the Naval Staff, Adm. Dinesh K Tripathi, and other dignitaries from the Indian Navy, Coast Guard, and government organizations. Executive Chairman Mr. Arun Sharma acknowledged the visionary founders of IRS and emphasized the organization’s dedication to excellence and innovation, especially in preparing for upcoming changes in the maritime sector like green fuels and unmanned operations.
Admiral Tripathi praised IRS for its growth and emphasized the importance of collaboration between the Navy and IRS to safeguard India’s maritime interests and promote self-reliance. He assured continued support from the Indian Navy for IRS in its endeavors. The event also honored Admiral Tripathi for his contributions to the Indian Navy and the nation. A special ‘Golden Jubilee Edition’ of the IRS magazine was released, signifying the milestone achieved by the organization and highlighting its significant role in the maritime industry.
