Two container ships registered in Singapore were targeted by unidentified projectiles while transiting the Strait of Hormuz. According to Singapore’s Maritime and Port Authority (MPA), one of the vessels sank, while the other sustained damage.
The first ship, GFS PRIDE, was struck on October 13, resulting in a fire that ultimately led to its sinking. Fortunately, all 21 crew members were evacuated safely, and there were no reported injuries.
The following day, on October 14, another ship, GFS GISELLE, was hit, causing damage to its hull. Despite the incident, the vessel successfully made its way to a safe anchorage under its own power, with all 22 crew members onboard unharmed.
The MPA has confirmed that there were no Singaporean crew members on either ship. They are maintaining communication with the management company of the vessels and are actively monitoring the situation as it develops.
