Maritime ports in Bangladesh, including Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla, and Payra, have been advised to lower cautionary signals as the cyclonic storm Remal has passed through the coastal areas. The severe cyclonic storm has weakened into a deep land depression and is moving northwards, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department’s 19th special bulletin. The storm originated in Koyra, Khulna, and weakened as it moved towards Jashore, eventually becoming a land depression that is expected to continue northeastwards.
As a result of the storm’s weakening, maritime ports were instructed to lower the danger signal number 10 and instead raise a local cautionary signal number three (r) three. Additionally, all fishing boats and trawlers in the North Bay area have been advised to remain in shelter until the morning of May 28, after which they can proceed with caution. The storm’s movement is being closely monitored to ensure the safety of those in the affected areas.
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department’s updates and advisories are crucial in ensuring the safety of maritime activities during severe weather conditions. By lowering the cautionary signals and providing specific guidance for fishing boats and trawlers, authorities are taking proactive measures to mitigate the potential risks associated with the cyclonic storm Remal. It is important for residents and stakeholders in the coastal areas to heed these warnings and follow the recommended safety protocols to minimize the impact of the storm.
