A Norwegian Cruise Line ship was unable to dock in the main port of Mauritius due to health concerns after some passengers fell ill. Around 100 passengers on board the Norwegian Dawn complained of diarrhea, with 15 requiring quarantine for more complicated symptoms. Health officials visited the ship to assess the situation, with test results expected in 48 hours.
The ship, carrying 2,184 passengers and 1,026 crew, skipped a planned stop on the neighboring island of Reunion. Approximately 2,000 passengers were supposed to end their cruise in Port Louis, with another 2,279 set to board on Sunday. The port authority emphasized the importance of prioritizing the health and safety of passengers and the country.
Norwegian Cruise Line did not immediately respond to requests for comment. This incident has raised concerns about the impact of health issues on cruise ship operations, highlighting the need for thorough health protocols to protect passengers and crew.
