Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ) recently celebrated World Environment Day by announcing that 12 of its key ports have received Zero Waste to Landfill (ZW) certification. This achievement highlights APSEZ’s commitment to sustainable operations, actively working to minimize waste and landfill contributions. Remarkably, the company recycled nearly 300 tons of plastic waste in the past year, equivalent to the weight of around 100 elephants.
Furthering its sustainability goals, APSEZ aims for net-zero emissions by 2040, having already commissioned 225 MW of renewable energy capacity. The company also promotes natural-based climate solutions, having reforested 4,240 hectares with an additional 2,915 hectares acting as CO2 sinks and providing protection against extreme weather.
On an international scale, APSEZ’s efforts have earned it recognition, ranking first in the environmental category of the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment for the second consecutive year. The company achieved an ESG score of 68 out of 100 and received an “A” rating from CDP for climate change and water security, marking its entrance into the Leadership Band for water security.
APSEZ continues to advocate for industrial decarbonization through collaborations with partners like Ambuja Cements Ltd. As World Environment Day serves as a reminder of corporate impact on the planet, APSEZ invites stakeholders to join in building a cleaner, more sustainable future.
