DP World has enhanced operations at the Mundra International Container Terminal (MICT) with a new advanced quay crane and three electric Rubber-Tyre Gantry Cranes (e-RTGCs), solidifying Gujarat’s role as a vital trade hub. The quay crane can manage vessels with a width of up to 22 rows, enabling Mundra to accommodate some of the largest container ships. It features predictive maintenance, improved CCTV, and energy-efficient systems to elevate reliability and productivity.
With this addition, DP World Mundra now boasts eight quay cranes, increasing its handling capacity to 1.56 million TEUs by 2027, which will expedite vessel turnaround times. The introduction of three e-RTGCs expands the fleet to 31 units and is projected to lower emissions by 18.9%, aligning with India’s Harit Sagar green port guidelines that aim for 50% electrification of port equipment by 2030, increasing to 90% by 2047.
These initiatives are part of DP World’s global commitment to sustainability, targeting a 42% reduction in Scope 1 emissions and 28% in Scope 3 emissions by 2030, with the goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. Mundra remains integral to India’s trade dynamics and global connectivity, linking to crucial markets across Asia, the Middle East, and beyond.
