The Indian government reported that 16 Indian-flagged vessels, with 433 seafarers aboard, are currently in the western Persian Gulf. Recently, two LPG vessels, the Green Sanvi and Green Asha, successfully navigated the Strait of Hormuz. The Directorate General of Shipping (DG Shipping) is actively monitoring the situation in collaboration with ship owners and Indian missions, ensuring the safety of all personnel involved.
To date, over 1,599 Indian seafarers have been repatriated, including 120 in the last 24 hours from various Gulf locations. Port operations across India are functioning normally, with no congestion reported. Maritime boards in several states, including Gujarat and Maharashtra, have confirmed the smooth operation of ports.
The Indian Embassy in Tehran has facilitated the evacuation of 1,777 nationals from Iran to Armenia and Azerbaijan for their return to India, including 895 students and 345 fishermen. The government expressed gratitude to Iranian, Armenian, and Azerbaijani authorities for their assistance in ensuring safe transit for evacuees. The Ministry of External Affairs continues to prioritize the safety and welfare of the Indian community amid ongoing developments in the Gulf region.
Since February 28, approximately 730,000 passengers have traveled from the conflict-affected area to India. Airlines in the UAE are operating limited non-scheduled flights, with around 90 flights expected to India today, alongside operations from Saudi Arabia and Oman.
