Drydocks World, part of DP World, and Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) have signed an Agreement of Heads of Terms to explore and develop India’s first ship repair cluster at the International Ship Repair Facility (ISRF) in Cochin, Kerala. The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed during the India Maritime Week 2025 in Mumbai, witnessed by Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, and DP World CEO H.E. Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem.
The ISRF is strategically positioned along crucial international shipping routes and boasts advanced docking facilities and a modern ship lift system capable of servicing various vessels. The partnership will investigate cooperative models within the ship repair cluster ecosystem, aiming to bolster India’s maritime capabilities and enhance its status as a burgeoning hub for global maritime services.
Captain Rado Anotolovic, CEO of Drydocks World, emphasizes that this collaboration reflects DP World’s commitment to enhancing India’s maritime infrastructure. By marrying international expertise with local insights, the initiative aims to make Cochin a preferred destination for ship repairs, supporting India’s goal of becoming a leading global maritime center.
Madhu S Nair, Chairman of CSL, added that this partnership seeks to raise India’s ship repair standards to global benchmarks while solidifying Cochin’s role as a center of excellence in the maritime sector. This agreement aligns with the Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047, enhancing India’s infrastructure for next-generation ship repairs through the combined strengths of CSL’s shipbuilding expertise and Drydocks World’s global experience.
