UAE Delegation Enhances Maritime Security Cooperation with India
A high-level delegation from the United Arab Emirates National Guard Command (UAE NGC) is visiting India from January 26 to 31, 2026, aimed at bolstering training cooperation and capacity-building with the Indian Coast Guard (ICG). Led by Brigadier Khalid Obaid Thani Al Shamsi, the delegation’s visit signifies the strengthening strategic partnership in maritime security between India and the UAE.
During the visit, Brigadier Al Shamsi met with the Director General of the ICG, engaging in bilateral discussions focused on enhancing cooperation between the two maritime agencies. Key topics included training collaboration, professional exchanges, and core operational functions such as maritime safety, coastal security, and pollution response.
The delegation will tour ICG training facilities in Chennai, including the Regional Marine Pollution Response Centre and the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre. These visits are intended to familiarize them with ICG’s training programs, which encompass critical areas like Oil Pollution Preparedness and Maritime Search and Rescue operations.
This engagement highlights the shared commitment of India and the UAE to implement their Memorandum of Understanding, strengthening bilateral maritime cooperation and contributing to regional maritime safety and security.
