The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) conducted the Regional Search and Rescue Exercise (ReSAREX–25) off the Panambur coast in Mangaluru on Wednesday and Thursday. This exercise aimed to assess and improve the readiness and coordination among various maritime stakeholders for mass rescue operations at sea. The Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) in Mumbai acted as the Search and Rescue Mission Coordinator, while the local Maritime Rescue Sub Centre served as the Command Post.

The exercise involved multiple assets, including ICG ships, aircraft, divers, and personnel from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and Marine Police, among others. Their effective collaboration highlighted the operational capabilities of all participating organizations. Conducted under the Indian Coast Guard Regional Headquarters (West) in Mumbai, the exercise simulated a distress scenario involving a dhow named Al Badariya, which reported a significant fire in its engine room.
