Recognizing that port competitiveness depends on process efficiency and coordinated operations, the V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority (VoCPA) is implementing reforms to enhance operational performance and trade facilitation. In collaboration with KPMG, VoCPA hosted a Port Process Efficiency Workshop in Tuticorin, gathering stakeholders to identify process bottlenecks and optimisation areas within the port ecosystem.
The workshop was inaugurated by Vijay Kumar, IAS, Secretary of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, who emphasized the crucial role of efficient processes and data-driven operations in supporting global trade and sustainability in line with India’s maritime vision. VoCPA also presented a Knowledge Paper titled “Unlocking Cargo Growth Potential at V.O. Chidambaranar Port,” highlighting operational themes for improvement to facilitate future cargo growth.
Chairperson Shri Susanta Kumar Purohit noted that recent performance improvements stemmed from targeted operational reforms and better asset utilization. Deputy Chairperson Rajesh Soundararajan stressed the need for collaboration with the trade ecosystem to enhance port efficiency. VoCPA’s involvement in India Maritime Week 2025 showcased its initiatives in green development and digital transformation, highlighting stakeholder engagement as vital for advancing the port’s reform agenda and national maritime objectives.
