The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has partnered with Yinson GreenTech (YGT) to enhance the Maritime Digital Twin (MDT), a platform that utilizes real-time data to model Singapore’s port environment. This memorandum of understanding will facilitate the exchange of operational insights from YGT’s fleet of electric harbor craft, aiming to optimize port operations and improve energy efficiency.

Launched on March 24, 2025, the MDT seeks to enable precise modeling and scenario testing, ultimately supporting smarter fleet deployment. The collaboration will also focus on developing digital workflows to scale electric harbor craft operations. Jan Viggo Johansen, Managing Director of YGT’s marinEV, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, emphasizing their commitment to decarbonizing Singapore’s maritime sector through innovative solutions.

In line with MPA’s mandate, all harbor craft must transition to fully electric, use B100 biofuels, or be compatible with net-zero fuels like hydrogen by 2030. YGT has already introduced Singapore’s first fully electric cargo ship, the Hydromover, and the region’s first electric hydrofoil vessel, the Hydroglyder. Recently, YGT also launched an electric vessel charging station in collaboration with Wilhelmsen Ships Service at the Pandan Loop facility.
