GCC Supports Oman’s New Maritime Corridor in the Strait of Hormuz

Riyadh: Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), expressed his support for the Sultanate of Oman’s recent announcement. In collaboration with the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Oman plans to evacuate over 11,000 stranded seafarers by establishing a temporary maritime corridor for vessels.

This initiative aligns with international law and the Law of the Sea, significantly promoting freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. It allows vessels to operate without restrictions or conditions, ensuring safe passage for maritime activities in this crucial waterway.

Albudaiwi commended the initiative, highlighting it as a testament to Oman’s strategic approach in bolstering regional security and stability.
