Shipping traffic in the Strait of Hormuz increased slightly, with ten vessels transiting on Wednesday, up from eight the previous day. However, this figure remains below the 10-day moving average of around 15 vessels, according to Kpler data. Among the vessels, two medium-range fuel tankers and several others, including a liquefied petroleum gas carrier, entered the strait from the Gulf of Oman, while a medium-range fuel tanker and a bulk carrier exited.
Amid ongoing tensions between the United States and Iran, negotiations continue between Iran and Oman regarding the management of the Strait of Hormuz. A senior Iranian source indicated that both countries are working on an agreement to share the waterway and its revenues, following comments from Iran’s Revolutionary Guards.
In a separate incident, a tanker in the strait was struck by an unidentified projectile, resulting in a fire that has since been extinguished, as reported by the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations agency. Meanwhile, traffic at the Bab el-Mandeb strait decreased for a second consecutive day, with only 19 vessels recorded on Wednesday, down from 24 the day before. Some vessels may not be accounted for due to transponders being turned off.
