The World Shipping Council (WSC) has welcomed Höegh Autoliners as a new member, enhancing its representation of the global liner shipping industry, particularly in the vehicle carrier sector. WSC President & CEO Joe Kramek expressed enthusiasm about the addition, noting that vehicle carriers are vital for global trade and that Höegh’s expertise will aid in discussions on safety, sustainability, and regulation.

Höegh Autoliners CEO Andreas Enger highlighted the company’s commitment to a cleaner future through its Aurora Class newbuild project, positioning itself as a leader in zero-emission deep-sea shipping. Enger emphasized the need for global policies that adapt to shifting trade patterns and complex operating environments. Joining the WSC reflects Höegh’s dedication to collaborating with industry peers and policymakers to develop effective regulatory frameworks that balance economic competitiveness and sustainability.

Liner ships account for two-thirds of the value of global trade, with WSC representing over 90% of global liner shipping capacity, including container and vehicle carrier services.
