Iran’s Tasnim news agency reported on Monday that Tehran’s negotiating team has halted communication with the United States via intermediaries. This decision comes in light of recent attacks on Lebanon, as diplomatic efforts to resolve the ongoing conflict, which has persisted for three months, continue.
The agency indicated that Iran, along with the Resistance Front—which includes its Shiite allies from Yemen, Lebanon, and Iraq—has outlined a strategy to fully obstruct the Strait of Hormuz. Additionally, they plan to activate other fronts, such as the Bab El Mandeb Strait, as a means to “punish” Israel and its backers.
Should the Houthis, Iran’s allies in Yemen, decide to initiate a new front in the conflict, a primary target is likely to be the Bab El Mandeb Strait. This strategic waterway is crucial for maritime traffic heading toward the Suez Canal, making it a significant point of interest in the ongoing regional tensions.
