Iran has intensified its military operations against ports in the UAE, with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launching what they refer to as Operation Wave 97. Recent reports indicate a fire at Khor Fakkan Port, attributed to missile debris, alongside claims of an “Israeli ship” ablaze near Jebel Ali. Official UAE media confirmed the Khor Fakkan incident, noting injuries to four individuals—three from Pakistan and one from Nepal—prompting concerns and calls for de-escalation from Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The fire at Khor Fakkan was reportedly contained, with cooling efforts underway. UK Maritime Trade Operations reported that a vessel at the port observed multiple splashes nearby, although there were no injuries or damage reported. Meanwhile, the IRGC claimed to have targeted an “Israeli ship” identified as the “King Dao Star,” which was said to be on fire. Analysts suggested this vessel might actually be the Qingdao Star, a container ship previously operated by Zim and now registered in the Marshall Islands.

In addition to these incidents, Iran claimed responsibility for an attack on an MSC containership near Bahrain, linking the company to Israel. The recent assaults are part of a broader campaign, with Iran launching a total of nine ballistic missiles, one cruise missile, and 50 drones on Sunday, all of which were intercepted by the UAE. The UAE has reported significant interceptions since hostilities began, including over 500 ballistic missiles and more than 2,100 drones.
