Kongsberg Maritime Begins Full Operational Independence

At a recent general meeting, shareholders of Kongsberg Gruppen approved the separation of Kongsberg Maritime, which will be listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange on April 23. Kongsberg Gruppen will continue as two entities: KONGSBERG, encompassing Defence & Aerospace and Discovery, and Kongsberg Maritime as an independent company.

Incoming CEO Lisa Edvardsen Haugan expressed readiness for the transition, emphasizing the company’s strong position to capitalize on future opportunities in the global maritime sector. Since the split announcement on October 30, 2025, Kongsberg Maritime has focused on strengthening its organization, with a new management team and an updated divisional structure.

Haugan highlighted the importance of Kongsberg Maritime and Norway’s maritime cluster, pledging to enhance their strategic significance while expanding globally, as over 80% of revenue comes from international markets. The Norwegian state intends to maintain its majority stake in both KONGSBERG and Kongsberg Maritime.

The newly formed board for Kongsberg Maritime includes Chair Per Arthur Sørlie and members with extensive experience, ready to guide the company into its independent future.
