Kongsberg Maritime has introduced the Tunnel Thruster type TTH from its Harmonised series, promising enhanced performance and reliability through a compact, modular design. This design facilitates flexible installation across various vessel types, making it easier to integrate into hulls while minimizing the installation footprint.
Key innovations include hydrodynamically optimized blades that enhance efficiency and reduce noise and vibration, as well as a modular core that accommodates multiple propeller diameters. The TTH series is compatible with Equipment Health Monitoring (EHM) and offers optional non-polluting sealing solutions. It meets the stringent requirements for the highest Baltic ice classes—Polar Class 6 and 7.
The new design features an increased clearance between the propeller blade tip and the tunnel plating, simplifying installation and reducing paint erosion. The TTH series is suitable for dynamic positioning and auxiliary propulsion applications, supporting both controllable pitch (CP) and fixed pitch (FP) configurations. Optional features like the Super Silent tunnel further enhance onboard comfort.
Additionally, TTH units will be included in Kongsberg Maritime’s Thruster Support Pool, which provides vessel owners with quick access to refurbished thrusters, significantly reducing maintenance time. The initial models feature propeller diameters of 1650 mm and 1850 mm, with power ratings up to 1250 kW.
