NYK and Akita Eisen KK have teamed up to establish Japan Offshore Support (JOS), a joint company focused on providing ship maintenance and management services for offshore wind power projects. Additionally, JOS will offer training and employment opportunities for seafarers, with a particular emphasis on recruiting local talent to support offshore wind power initiatives and contribute to the community in Akita Prefecture. The primary role of JOS will be the maintenance and management of crew transfer vessels (CTV) for offshore wind power generation.

Drawing on their experience in operating ships at Ishikari Bay New Port, as well as knowledge gained from collaboration with Northern Offshore Services in the CTV sector, NYK and Akita Eisen KK aim to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality services to support the stable supply of electricity from offshore wind power generation in Japan. NYK has also signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement with Akita Prefecture, engaging in various initiatives to promote renewable energy projects and develop relevant human resources in the region.

Through this partnership and the establishment of JOS, NYK and Akita Eisen KK are committed to advancing the offshore wind power industry in Japan while fostering local talent and contributing to the sustainable development of Akita Prefecture. By leveraging their combined expertise and resources, the companies aim to play a key role in ensuring the success and reliability of offshore wind power projects in the region.
