This innovative solution will be issued directly to seafarers in a secure manner, setting a new standard for trust and transparency in maritime credentialing.
The collaboration integrates BMA’s BORIS enterprise system with IDsure’s secure platform, allowing seafarers to receive their credentials instantly after identity verification. This advancement eliminates delays associated with manual submissions and paper-based processes. Shipowners, crew managers, and training institutions will also benefit from streamlined operations and automated data exchange.
Jesper Holmgren, CEO of IDsure, expressed pride in the partnership, emphasizing the delivery of a secure digital Seafarer Record Book that can be accessed on the go. This initiative represents a significant leap towards enhancing digital trust in the maritime sector. Capt. Kapila Malawwethanthri from BMA highlighted the authority’s commitment to leveraging technology to improve services for seafarers and industry partners.
The collaboration also connects BMA-approved training centers directly to the authority, enabling instant certificate issuance and enhancing regulatory oversight. As development progresses, BMA is informing stakeholders about the upcoming digital issuance process, with a formal launch announcement anticipated soon.
