The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) has introduced a new online application portal, myAMSA, aimed at modernizing services and enhancing accessibility for seafarers. This initiative represents a significant advancement in the way maritime services are delivered, aligning with the expectations of a digital-first environment.
myAMSA simplifies the application process for various services, including the near coastal certificate of competency, which can now be completed entirely online. This digital shift eliminates the need for applicants to visit a post office, resulting in a faster and more convenient experience.
To ensure secure identity verification, myAMSA connects with the Australian Government’s myID Digital ID app, overseen by the Australian Taxation Office (ATO). Those who have not yet registered for a myID account can easily follow the ATO’s setup guide available online.
With myAMSA, seafarers can now apply, submit, and track their applications seamlessly, enhancing transparency and efficiency throughout the application process. This move is expected to significantly improve the user experience for those in the maritime industry.
