Installed on the product tanker Oriental Aquamarine, this technology aims to enhance eco-friendly ship designs, potentially saving fuel by 5% to 20%.

South Korea’s HMM has approved a significant investment of approximately KRW 4.03 trillion (around US$2.8 billion) for constructing new container vessels and very large crude carriers (VLCCs). The HMM Garnet, the first of twelve 13,000 TEU container ships, has been delivered by South Korean shipping company HMM. Equipped with advanced energy-saving technologies, the LNG-capable vessel was unveiled at a naming ceremony in Ulsan and will be used on the East Coast 1 route. HMM’s fleet capacity will reach 1 million TEU after all deliveries are completed.
