Recently, 16 Indonesian fishermen pleaded guilty in Darwin after being captured in two incidents. The Australian Border Force arrested crew members, sank boats, and imposed prison sentences and fines to deter future illegal fishing activities.
Nine Indonesian nationals were caught illegally fishing near Augustus Island, Western Australia. Australian authorities seized 350 kilograms of sea cucumber and 175 kilograms of salt, along with fishing equipment. The crew was taken to Darwin, where their vessel was destroyed. The fishers were charged under the Fisheries Management Act and will be returned to Indonesia.
