Norwegian Cruise Line celebrated the float out of its upcoming mega cruise ship, the Norwegian Aqua, which is being built in Italy and set to enter service in spring 2026. The ship was originally ordered as part of pre-pandemic plans but was later enlarged to improve its economics. The Norwegian Aqua will be larger than its sister ships, the Norwegian Prima and Norwegian Viva, with increased capacity and passenger amenities.
The Norwegian Aqua will feature a hybrid rollercoaster and waterslide, a suite enclave with private deck space, and new dining options. The ship is set to sail from Port Canaveral to the Caribbean in April 2025, with subsequent itineraries from New York and Miami. Norwegian Cruise Line also has plans to introduce two more enlarged ships in 2027 and 2028, with accommodations for 3,850 passengers each.
In addition to the Norwegian Aqua, Norwegian Cruise Line has ordered four more cruise ships from Fincantieri, with deliveries starting in 2030. These new ships will be larger and offer accommodations for approximately 5,000 passengers each. The company aims to enhance the passenger experience with these new vessels and build on existing features. Norwegian Cruise Line currently has the highest number of cruise ships on order among contemporary brands, with plans for further expansion in the coming years.
