Two liveaboard dive vessels, one in Egypt and the other in the Maldives, experienced fires this week, resulting in the destruction of both ships. The Red Sea Explorers’ liveaboard MV Nouran caught fire near Daedalus Reef in the Red Sea, with all crew and passengers successfully evacuated. The cause of the fire is still unknown, and efforts are being made to assist guests with bookings on the vessel for the remainder of the season.
In the Maldives, the liveaboard vessel Blue Voyager operated by Master Liveaboards also caught fire while undergoing maintenance in port. Fortunately, no passengers were on board at the time, and there were no reported injuries. The crew managed to evacuate safely, and plans are in place to address the impact of the fire on upcoming trips. Guests who may be affected will be contacted accordingly.
Both Red Sea Explorers and Master Liveaboards expressed relief that the incidents were not more severe and that everyone involved is safe. The loss of the MV Nouran in Egypt and the damage to the Blue Voyager in the Maldives have undoubtedly had an impact on their operations, but the focus remains on the safety and well-being of guests and crew members. Efforts are underway to address the aftermath of the fires and provide support to those affected by the incidents.
