Cruise Ship Transforms with Enhanced Catering and Accommodation Spaces

ALMACO Completes Liberty Of The Seas Modernization

ALMACO Group has successfully completed a significant modernization project on Royal Caribbean International’s Liberty of the Seas at Damen Shipyard. Finished in May 2026, the project enhanced catering and accommodation facilities, adding new public spaces during the ship’s yard period.

The catering upgrades included a 90-sq.-m. galley, a 35-sq.-m. pantry, and three bar areas—Starbucks, The Lime & Coconut, and El Loco Fresh—totaling around 100 sq. m. In addition to these enhancements, ALMACO repurposed existing areas to create new passenger accommodations. This involved converting a former conference room on Deck 2 into 24 cabins, transforming the Deck 10 library into four cabins and a corridor, and redesigning parts of the Deck 11 gym and spa into eight larger cabins.

On Deck 12, 10 family suites were developed from a section of the Adventure Ocean area, requiring careful coordination with contractors. Furthermore, ALMACO transformed the old Sabor restaurant on Deck 4 into Royal Caribbean’s Izumi Japanese restaurant, providing both catering systems and interior outfitting.

Project Manager Baptiste Guillou emphasized that thorough preplanning and collaboration among ALMACO, Royal Caribbean, Damen Shipyard, and suppliers were vital for the successful completion of this extensive conversion project.
