Norway’s Green Yard has introduced the KLEVEN KY100, a 100-meter Polar Class expedition yacht that signifies the company’s foray into designing and owning its own yacht models. Developed in collaboration with Opalinski Design House and HAV Design, the KY100 merges Green Yard’s expertise in offshore and polar vessels with modern superyacht aesthetics. This PC5 vessel is engineered for global operations, including polar regions, boasting a cruising speed of 18 knots and a range of approximately 10,000 nautical miles.
The KY100 is built on a proven hull form and technical platform, having advanced beyond the concept phase to include detailed specifications and construction methodologies. It aims to serve as a foundation for a future series of KLEVEN expedition yachts and support vessels. Notably, the yacht features hybrid battery propulsion with an 8-MWh battery system for silent operation and optional dual-fuel engines that can run on methanol.
Key expedition features include an integrated helicopter hangar for an Airbus ACH160, enclosed tender hangars, a Polar Panorama Lounge, an aft beach club, and an infinity pool. CEO Hans Jørgen Fedog emphasized that this project marks a significant step for Green Yard, aiming to enhance their value chain and build demanding vessels in Ulsteinvik.
