Dubai Maritime City (DMC) has achieved a significant milestone by successfully docking the MT Cabri, a 145-meter tanker, which is now the largest vessel ever accommodated at the DMC Shipyard. This operation was completed in just three and a half hours by a dedicated team of 38 employees, surpassing the previous record of 135 meters set in 2020.
The successful docking of the MT Cabri highlights the facility’s capability to service a diverse range of vessels, catering to the increasing demand for advanced maritime repair and maintenance services. Currently, the tanker is undergoing the installation of a ballast water treatment system, which is essential for cleaning and treating water carried on board, along with hull treatment and various repairs.
During the docking process, MT Cabri was meticulously maneuvered onto the shipyard’s lifting system before being transitioned to the repair area. This complex operation was executed safely and efficiently, showcasing DMC’s ability to handle large vessels.
This record-setting docking reinforces Dubai Maritime City’s pivotal role in the emirate’s maritime sector and underscores ongoing investments in infrastructure, expertise, and operational capabilities necessary to manage larger and more complex vessel projects.
