Sri Lanka’s Minister of Ports, Anura Karunathilaka, visited Mumbai for the India Maritime Week 2025, where he engaged in crucial discussions on maritime technology, port operations, and regional collaboration. The visit aimed to enhance cooperation between India and Sri Lanka, particularly in modernizing port functionalities and sharing best practices in the maritime sector.

During the two-day event, Minister Karunathilaka met with India’s Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, and participated in the Ministerial Plenary session. He also engaged with ministers from various countries to discuss sustainable port development and innovations in maritime logistics.

Additionally, Karunathilaka attended the launch of “Sagarmanthan: The Great Oceans Dialogue,” a platform for global leaders to converse about ocean governance and technology-driven maritime growth. On the sidelines, he connected with prominent figures from India’s maritime industry, including executives from JM Baxi and Adani Ports, exploring potential partnerships and investment opportunities.

This visit underscores the strengthening ties between India and Sri Lanka, aiming to create a technologically advanced and regionally integrated maritime ecosystem in the Indian Ocean.
