VO Chidambaranar Port in Thoothukudi is set to sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with NTPC to develop 1 MW of green hydrogen. Collaborative studies for a Green Corridor involving the European Union and the ports of Singapore and Rotterdam, in coordination with the Deendayal Port Authority, are still ongoing. Additionally, discussions are in progress with stakeholders regarding the establishment of a biofuel corridor and further green hydrogen initiatives.

The port is modernizing its administrative office to meet green-certified standards. A 1-MW solar power project is under implementation, alongside considerations for a 2-MW storage system. The tendering process has commenced for a 6-MW wind power project and a green methanol bunker system.

Feasibility studies are currently assessing innovative solutions, including wind trees, solar trees, and offshore forgia. Moreover, the Ufer-WIP power supply project aimed at coastal base locations is making steady progress. The collaboration between Post-Voc-Port and NTPC signifies a commitment to advancing renewable energy initiatives in the region.
